2nd Prophet Hazrat Idrees (Enoch) (AS)

                                               STORY OF THE PROPHET HAZRAT IDREES (AS)

Idrees is an Arabic name. Hazrat idrees (AS) is a second prophet mentioned in the Quran. Hazrat idrees (AS) biblical name is Enoch. He was trustworthy, patient and exaited to a high station because of this and other parallels, traditionally Idrees has been identified with the biblical Enoch and Islamic tradition usually places Idrees in the early Generations of Adam. Prophet Idrees was born during the lifetime of Prophet Adam. He was from amongst the followers of Sheath (Seth) and ruled the progeny of Adam following the death of Sheath. ... Idrees was a sincere servant of Allah, hence Allah chose him as a Prophet and Messenger, and elected him as the ruler over the children of Adam. Muslim scholars of the classical and medieval periods also held that Idrees (A S) and Hermes Trismegistus were the same person.^[5][6]

Idris is mentioned twice in the Quran, where he is described as a wise man. In surah 19 of the Quran, Maryam, God says:

Also mention in the Book the case of Idris: He was a man of truth (and sincerity), (and) a prophet:                                             
And We raised him to a lofty station.

Later, in surah 21, al-Anbiya, Idris is again praised:

And (remember) Isma'il, Idrees, and Dhu al-Kifl,^[19] all (men) of constancy and patience;
We admitted them to Our mercy: for they were of the righteous ones.

Idrees was born in Babylon, a city in present-day Iraq. Before he received the Revelation, he followed the rules revealed to Prophet Seth, the son of Adam. God bestowed Prophethood on him. They asked Prophet Idrees: "If we leave Babylon, where will we find a place like it?" Prophet Idrees said: "If we immigrate for the sake of Allah, He will provide for us." So the people went with Prophet Idrees and they reached the land of Egypt. They saw the Nile River. Idrees stood at its bank and mentioned Allah, the Exalted, by saying: "SubhanAllah."^{[20][dead link]}

 He is the first person to write with pen.  He is the one who invented the art of sewing or stitching and wearing sewn or stitched clothes.  People before him used to wear animal skin.  He is first one to manufacture weapons, scale and established measurements, and the first to master the fields of astronomy and mathematics.  All of these originated from him.  Allah Almighty had revealed 30 books upon him and he used to teach Allah’s books very often, therefore his title became “Idrees” (from Dars i.e. teaching) and this title of his became so widely known and famous that most people are not aware of his original name. His friend is an angel.  His name “Idrees” is mentioned in the Holy Quran.

An interesting story which I read relating to him (A S) is that when he was raised to the heavens he asked the Angel of death to give him a taste of death i.e to take his soul out and put it back so he would know what it would feel like as “Every soul shall taste of death”. So the Angel of death took his soul and then put it back for him.

Then he asked the angels to show him the fire of hell as every person would pass over it (see it) so he was shown the hell. Then he asked to be taken to heaven (jannah) so the angels took him to Jannah. Once he was in Jannah he said that after a person enters Jannah he will not be taken out again so he wished to stay there and Allah allowed this. Thus the writer said the Prophet Idrees (A S) is actually alive in the heavens and indeed the Prophet Sallallahu alaihi wasalam met him on the 4th Heaven on the Night of Meraj (asencion)
